FDL-5 HYPERSONIC RESEARCH CRAFT & LAUNCHER the 1960s and 1970s, the U.S. Air Force conducted a number of studies on hypersonic re-entry vehicles for military space missions. The FDL-5 designed to be launched out the back of a C-5 Galaxy transport at high altitude. Once released, the spacecraft's solid-fuel booster would propel it into orbit. Upon re-entry, the FDL-5 would maneuver to a soft-landing via extendable wings.Fantastic Plastic's 1:72 FDL-5 kit is a highly detailed model, and includes a cockpit interior with three space-suited astronaut figures. The canopy is water-clear resin. Build it with a solid-cast booster as the launch version (18 inches long total!), or the landed configuration with landing gear and extended wings. The kit-supplied JBOT decals allow you to build your FDL-5 with either civilian NASA markings or military USAF. Flawlessly cast by BLAP!
