Micro-Patrol

Sponsorship opportunities available ------ Ask us about them!

by Daniel Cohn-Postar

Scale: Not stated

After the First Cylon War, the surplus of warships meant that the spacelanes could be patrolled more effectively, and action could finally be taken against pirates, patrols were dispatched, usually a Corvette to search for the pirates and run them down, with a Light Cruiser for backup if they ran into something more heavily armed.

Corvette:

  • Crew: 400
  • Armament: Two heavy KEW Turrets, One dorsal, one ventral, numerous AA Batteries

Light Cruiser:

  • Crew: 1300
  • Armament: 8 Heavy KEW Turrets, 2 frontal, 4 dorsal, 2 ventral, 4 side-mounted single KEW turrets, (2 dorsal, 2 ventral) 2 Missile launchers (Forward) 2 Fixed Ultra-Heavy Kinetic Energy Weapons (Forward, ventral)

These models are my tribute to the Galoob Micro Machines I grew up with. I loved the detail of the mini Star Destroyers, X-wings, and Star Trek ships and was crushed when they stopped being produced, so I decided to make some “Galactica” Micro-scale ships of my own.

Corvette:

General layout inspired by the Corellian Corvette from Star Wars, with a large gun turret topside and one ventral. Constructed with spare parts from a battleship model kit, including deckhouses and a smokestack, also bits of parts trees.

Light Cruiser:

I wanted to build a Battlestar without launch bays, something that could be used for smaller-scale missions. I used parts of a smaller-scale Bismarck hull, small gun turrets, a store security tag, and various other bits and pieces

Colors: Black and Gunship Gray
