Lighted Cardassian Galor

By Brad Eastman

Here's my rendition of Ertl's Galor class Cardassian cruiser. A fluorescent tube provides the interior lights in the cruiser's main section, and an incandescent bulb lights the "bridge." Yellow LEDs light the large yellow/orange glowing areas on the blades of the ship, though they don't show up too well in some of the pictures.

Some sharp-eyed modeller might notice that I've painted the upper part of what I think is the command section a rather dark grey, contrary to the picture of the studio model on the box. For that part of the model, I went with the cruiser's appearance in DS9's "Sacrifice of Angels" episode. Other than lighting the ship, the only major improvement I made was to remove and rescribe the panel lines, a task that improved the look of the kit quite a bit (I so dislike raised panel lines).

I mixed my own base colour, which, though it might not appear to do so in the pictures, matches the on-screen colour quite well. The majority of the time after assembly was spent weathering and reproducing some of the small geometric patterns on the hull.
