Scratchbuilt Babylon 5 Models

By Luciano Peccerini

These are my last creations: B5-White Star, B5-Vorlon Ambassatorial Transport (Kosh 1 version), Kosh Naranek and a Future Human encounter-suit (last episode of 4th season). All models are scratch-built made from epoxy resin, polyester resin, polystyrene sheet (0,5 mm, 1mm, 2mm and 5mm), metal cast pieces and alluminium expanded foil (the same used in parabolic satellite dishes). I usually put pieces together with super-glue and polyester resin (for car repairs).

The White Star space ship took 6 months to be done. She is 1,6m long (the same height of my little wife!). She is fully detailed inside and outside under the main hull. The Vorlon Transport took 9 months to be done and is 1,4m long. I had some problems with the lights when it was almost finished. She has 36 yellow leds at the propulsion end (same effect of Jupiter 2, two opposite lanes running), hi-bright leds in each intake under each petal, and red hi-bright leds in each main body (the small one and the big one).

Kosh has no lights and measures 35 cm. Future Human has red leds on his eyes and a big one at the chest Templary symbol. I've been using National Semiconductor's LM3909 integrated circuit to put lights in my models because I can supply ONE YEAR of flashing led with just two AA size battery (1,5 V).

These pictures were taken at an IPMS convention here in Sao Paulo/Brazil.
