This is Aurora's old 1/144 Orion III Space Clipper kit from 2001: A Space
Odyssey™. This was the late seventies issue of the kit. I didn't do anything too fancy with this, besides replace all the windows with food coloring
tinted Krystal Kleer. I added frame struts to the front windshield, making it more accurate and giving the Krystal Kleer a better frame to sit in.
I first applied a white primer coat to the kit, then painted selected panels with dark shades. With the final white overspray, these darker panels gave the
surface a "mottled" look. I finished this kit before the publication of "2001: Filiming The Future". My paint scheme does not match the book's color (namely I
painted an aniti-glare shield in front of the cockpit), but hopefully Monogram will reissue this kit and I can do it right the next time.
