This priority starfighter is the backbone defense fighter craft for the Galactic federation. It's powered by two on-board ion fusion thruster nacelles on the ventral surface and primarily armed with twin laser cannons on each wingtip. The Star Bird can be upgraded with heavier weapons to include heavy bombs or torpedoes.
This model is a bash of an X-Wing and Romulan Warbird and some other pieces I had lying around. The wingtip cannons are a bash of some piece off of a Cardassian ship, landing skids from a MaK craft, and I think the barrels are actually lampposts from a 1/35 scale military model. The pilot began life as a WWII Fallschirmjäger trooper and I cobbled the helmet from an old helicopter pilot. I began working on it what seems like an eon ago and this contest motivated me to finish it.
