Lunar Excursion Module

[Proudly Sponsored by BLAP! Models]

by Randy Hall

Scale: 1/48
The model is the Monogram 1/48 scale Lunar Excursion Module. I built it out-of-box with the exceptions of mounting in on a support tube over a lunar surface and placing a red LED in the decent stage engine. I ran the wires down the support tube to a 9 volt battery hidden in the lunar base. The gold "Mylar" film from the kit was substituted with the gold foil from chocolate bar wrappers.

The kit depicts the last few seconds before touch-down of Apollo 11. And then came the famous words,"Houston, Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed."
