Comments | My first thoughts on opening this kit were "It's a lot bigger than I thought," and "Why is OB1 so bendy?" Very well cast, no flash and very little (if anything) to fill. If you want a basic kit this is great because it has pretty good precolouring but it was a bit toy-like for me.
For those who want more of a challenge the large scale makes it a really good kit to weather and modify. It is also fairly inexpensive at the moment in the UK.
There are only two minor faults I can find. The pilot is too rubbery and doesn't respond well to drilling, carving or painting and there is no stand but I'm being picky with both of these points. The 'Snap fit' does actually work too but I did end up using glue. I'm going to get another one for my little brother as this goes together so easily. With a bit of adult help I am sure he could build this in a couple of hours (he's 22 in January.) Joking aside this makes a great father son project and does seem to be aimed at the pre-teen age group. |
