Your Two Cents: Proteus

The following are reader's opinions of the Proteus made by WILCO! Models.

Overall Rating       Good kit, but with some problems.
Comments This is my first resin kit. Wilco has done a fine job in recreating the classic lines of this obscure "submarine / spaceship." While I am new to resin kits, the detail is very good. The biggest problem will be the cabin windows. My kit included an injection molded top dome, which was a nice touch. The worst fit problem that I see is the interior "tub." It will require some work to get it to fit right, as it interferes with the hull top. But, right out of the box; it looks darn fine. Damn the removal, build it in!! There are some bubbles and pinholes, but nothing major. This kit will require some work, but it is a fine representation of the ship. Fans of the movie should buy this kit. As of this writing, it is available for $49.99. Not much more than you would pay for a Tiger 2 from Tamiya. Overall - Great kit for the cash. Summary: My kit arrived in a sturdy box, with a color graphic. No parts are illustrated in the instruction sheet. The parts are for the most part very cleanly cast. Clean-up will be primarily in the upper hull section with the windows. The interior is good for the scale. The included figures are poor, but I never use them anyway. For fans of this movie classic, buy it while you can!!
