Comments | I recieved the Locutus of Borg kit from Geometric for a Christmas present, and due to other projects that were ongoing,I shelved the kit until I was ready to build it. Once I opened the box, I wished I had left it on the shelf. This figure bears no discernable likness to Picard/Locutus at all. Not wanting to hurt the feelings of the person who purchased it for me (insert the word wife here), I tackled the kit with all smiles...in front of her anyway. The assembly was straightforward. No fancy tricks needed. But how to paint this to even remotley resemble Picard/Locutus? I own the episode Best of Both woelds on VHS, so I stopped framed the best close up scenes and took the plunge. Flat black for the jumpsuit, flesh color mixed with white and a tiny hint of light blue for the muted skin color. By the time I was done, I thought I had produced a fairly nicely done model, which still looked nothing like the subject. The only benifit I recieved with this model is I sharpened my skills on building vinyl models. Oh yes, and to make the Missus happy. I would not reccommend this to anyone unless they do not care that the model bears no resemblance to the subject. Buy a nice starship model instead, there are still plenty of those on eBay as well. |
